our mission

The loft movement began in 1968 with artists who created live/work space out of abandoned warehouses in SOHO NY. In the rush to take advantage of this popular new lifestyle many new lofts have been created but few still reflect the artistic roots that actually started the movement.

We’ve all been to our favorite coffee shops and cafés that display art works from community artists. Many of these pieces are actually on sale to the general public. Following the same concept that started in coffee shops, one local management company, Evolve Property Management, LLC has created the Urban Arts Project and intends to display works by local artists and collectors in the mutli-family apartment buildings that it owns and manages. The goal of the program is to enrich the lives of residents, neighbors and their guests by providing a venue for works of art that were rarely or never before seen by the public.

While much of the artwork on display is actually available for purchase, Evolve Urban Arts Project is entirely philanthropic. All proceeds from the sale of any artwork will go directly to the artist or charity of their choosing.

Evolve is a proud member of the Capitol Hill Area Merchants & Professionals (CHAMPS) organization. On the Second Saturday (S2) of each month, CHAMPS sponsors a Capitol Hill gallery walk that promotes artists and local businesses all over Capitol Hill. Evolve participates in S2 by opening our doors and by serving refreshments to the general public.
